Reshaping agencies in AI-mediated group collaboration

RESHAPE explores group collaboration with generative AI, examining how agency, capabilities, and ethics are reshaped as people think, negotiate, and co-create with generative AI.

RESHAPE

RESHAPE project focuses on how collaborative learning in small groups is mediated by generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). Collaboration is a beneficial context to learn to reflect on the value and trustworthiness of information and actions with GenAI. The project studies how GenAI is used in small-group collaboration, how capabilities are challenged and developed, and how grounded ethics are confronted and renewed in AI-mediated interaction. These foci/aims/approaches offer new conceptualizations of agencies, both human and non-human, in learning/collaborating with GenAI.

We employ a micro-ecological approach to study learning with AI across levels, from capabilities and agencies to learning design and institutional ecosystems. An account of the dynamic and productive interactions is built across three stages of data collection and analysis on GenAI-mediated processes, self-evaluations, group and stakeholder reflections. The project creates solutions for training sustainable human-AI co-creation practices in education and work.
